The IBM 4662-24G is a 2U Small Form Factor (SFF) SAS expansion enclosure designed to expand the capacity of the IBM FlashSystem 5200 control enclosure.
Product Description
The IBM 4662-24G FlashSystem 5200 SFF Expansion Enclosure provides 24 drive slots for 2.5-inch SAS hard disk drives or solid-state flash drives. It attaches to the FlashSystem 5200 control enclosure (models 4662-6H2 or 4662-UH6) via dual 12 Gb SAS connections and includes dual expansion canisters for high availability. This expansion enclosure allows customers to scale capacity significantly while maintaining the full feature set of IBM Storage Virtualize, including Easy Tier, DRAID, and data reduction services.

- Environments: Systems running IBM Storage Virtualize (minimum software level 8.4.0)
- Limitations: Requires proper SAS cabling and the ALBQ feature installed in the control enclosure. Follow IBM SAS chain weight and population rules. Maximum of 20 model 24G enclosures per control enclosure. Verify exact configuration and firmware requirements via IBM documentation.
