The IBM 4662-92G FlashSystem 5300 High Density Expansion Enclosure is a 5U SAS expansion enclosure that supports up to 92 drives. It is designed to expand the capacity of FlashSystem 5300 control enclosures (models 4662-7H2 / UH7). The enclosure uses a 12 Gb SAS interface and supports a mix of 3.5-inch HDDs, Nearline HDDs, and SAS SSDs (including 2.5-inch drives in carriers). Attachment requires the SAS Expansion Enclosure Attach Card in the control enclosure. It enables cost-effective capacity scaling for tiered storage environments while maintaining high availability.
