Product Description

The IBM 8242 (feature code 8242, machine type 3576-8242) is a full-high LTO Ultrium 5 tape drive with a dual-port 8 Gbps Fibre Channel interface. It installs in the IBM TS3310 Tape Library (3576-L5B base and 3576-E9U expansion modules). The drive writes LTO-5 cartridges at 1.5 TB native capacity and up to 3 TB compressed (2:1). Native data transfer rate is up to 140 MB/s. It writes and reads LTO-5 and LTO-4 cartridges and reads LTO-3 cartridges. The drive supports hardware AES-256 encryption, WORM media, and LTFS. Common part numbers include 46X4440 and 35P2589.
