The IBM 5913 PCIe2 1.8 GB Cache RAID SAS Adapter Tri-port 6 Gb provides high-performance HDD and SSD controller function using PCIe Gen2 technology. It has 1.8 GB of write cache protected by integrated flash memory with supercapacitors, eliminating the need for batteries. A pair of adapters is required to provide mirrored write-cache data and adapter redundancy. If the pairing is broken, write cache is disabled. The adapter has three Mini-SAS HD connectors for attachment of SAS drives in EXP24S, EXP12S, or 12X PCIe I/O drawers. The CCIN is 57B5. Only 512-byte sector drives are supported.

- Storage: SAS HDDs and SSDs (SFF or 3.5-inch) in 5887 EXP24S, 5886 EXP12S, or 5802/5803 12X PCIe I/O drawers
- Limitations: Must be installed in pairs. Write cache is disabled if pairing is broken. 4K sector drives are not supported. Confirm cable and enclosure requirements
