The IBM ESE2 (feature code ESE2, part number 00LY561, CCIN 5B2C) is a 3.72 TB Mainstream SAS solid-state drive formatted with 4K (4224-byte) sectors. It is mounted on an SFF-3 carrier for installation in POWER8 and POWER9 system-unit SAS bays. The drive is rated at 6 Gb/s, with actual throughput depending on adapter, workload, and system configuration. Mainstream endurance is rated at 1 Drive Write Per Day (DWPD) over a five-year period. Feature ESE1 is the physically identical AIX/Linux version.

Older PCIe2 and earlier SAS adapters do not support 4K drives. Verify firmware levels and population rules via IBM documentation.
