IBM 6381 is a 1/4-Inch Cartridge Tape Unit (QIC). For FC #6381, #6481: 2.5GB native capacity with 5.0GB capacity using data compression. Supports the QIC 24 format as used in the S/36 l/4-inch tape units. Used for save/restore, alternate IPL, program distribution, migration and 1/4-Inch cartridge tape exchange. Properties (1200 foot tape). Capacity: 2.5GB at 0.3MB/s. For FC #6381: This tape can be ordered as an MES to replace the package 4.0GB tape included in FC 029x, 039x and 059x packages if S/36 compatibility is required. For FC #6481: Mounts in a system unit or #5064#9364 System Unit Expansion.

The DC9250 Data Cartridge cannot be used in the 120MB, 525MB or 1.2GB drives.
