Product Description
The IBM TS2230 (machine type 3580, model H3S) is a stand-alone LTO Ultrium 3 half-high tape drive with a 3 Gb SAS interface. It writes LTO-3 cartridges at 400 GB native and up to 800 GB compressed (2:1). Native data rate is up to 60 MB/s. It reads and writes LTO-2 cartridges and reads LTO-1 cartridges. The drive is an external unit for direct host attachment. It is not a library drive.

- Software: IBM i, AIX, and Linux backup applications that support LTO-3
- Media: LTO-3 and LTO-2 data cartridges for read and write. LTO-1 cartridges for read. WORM media supported. Use a universal Ultrium cleaning cartridge
- Mounting: Desktop or optional rack shelf
- Limitations: Stand-alone drive only. Does not fit a TS4300, TS3100, or TS3200 library. Does not support LTO encryption. SAS cables are ordered separately. Confirm host adapter and operating system support before install
