The IBM EMXG (CCIN 50CB) is a PCIe3 6-slot fanout module designed specifically for the EMX0 PCIe Gen3 I/O Expansion Drawer. It delivers six PCIe Gen3 slots—two wired as x16 and four as x8—for accommodating a variety of PCIe adapters. Slots use blind swap cassettes (BSC) that are interchangeable with those from older 12X PCIe I/O Drawers (#5802/5877/5803/5873). The module features two CXP ports for connection to a PCIe Optical Cable Adapter (EJ05, EJ07, or EJ08, depending on the server). Cabling uses a pair of active optical CXP cables (AOC) or CXP copper cables, with top-to-top and bottom-to-bottom connections. As a follow-on to the EMXF module, EMXG includes minor physical changes to support a broader range of PCIe adapters while remaining functionally identical and fully intermixable with EMXF in the same drawer.
