The IBM ES8K (feature code ES8K) is a 2.5-inch SFF-3 Read Intensive SAS SSD formatted with 4224-byte (4k) sectors for IBM i. It provides high capacity at an affordable price point and is optimized for read-heavy workloads. The drive is mounted on an SFF-3 carrier/tray and is designed for installation in SFF-3 bays within the system unit of supported Power8 and Power9 servers. It is an excellent choice for IBM i environments that need larger capacity without the higher cost of enterprise-endurance SSDs.
