IBM Power9 iSeries servers run IBM i with strong cores and proven reliability. They use the POWER9 processor. Your current IBM i apps can stay in place.
Data Tech offers the Power9 line for IBM i. Start with a compact S922 or S914. Move up to an S924 when you need more cores and memory.
Power9 helps IBM i shops get more work done. It is a solid step up from Power8. It is also a clear path before Power10.

| Model | Machine Type | Size | Max Cores | Max Memory | Storage | IBM i Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S914 | 9009-41A / 9009-41G | 4U rack / tower | 8 | 1 TB | SAS / NVMe (G models) | P05 on 4-core; P10 on 6- and 8-core; 64 GB IBM i memory cap on P05 |
| S922 | 9009-22G | 2U rack | 22 | 4 TB | SAS / NVMe | P05 on 1-core EP5Y; P10 on higher cores |
| S924 | 9009-42A / 9009-42G | 4U rack | 24 | 4 TB | SAS / NVMe (G models) | P20 software tier |
Exact IBM i limits depend on processor feature, software tier, and PTFs. Confirm the build before you order.

9009-41A / 9009-41G | 4U rack or tower
The S914 is the entry to midrange Power9 system. It fits small to medium IBM i shops.
It is a common replacement for older Power8 S814 systems. You keep a familiar size while gaining POWER9 performance.

9009-22G | 2U rack
The S922 is the compact Power9 server. The 1-core EP5Y is popular for small IBM i shops that want to stay in P05.
Use the 1-core version for small P05 workloads. Higher core builds suit denser midrange needs.

9009-42A / 9009-42G | 4U rack
The S924 is the larger scale-out Power9 system. It is built for heavier IBM i and mixed workloads.
Choose this model when you need more cores, more memory, and room to grow.
Every Power9 iSeries server shares the same core design. The difference is size, memory, and I/O.
Power9 iSeries servers are built to run IBM i. They also run AIX and Linux when you need mixed partitions.
IBM i rules can change by model and processor feature. The 4-core S914 and 1-core S922 stay in the P05 software tier with a 64 GB IBM i memory cap. Higher core counts move to P10 or P20. Always check firmware and IBM i support for the exact feature codes.
Many IBM i shops still run Power8 servers. Power9 helps you keep the same apps. You move to faster cores and higher memory capacity.
