IBM Storage Class Memory, FCMs, and industry-standard NVMe drive options
The IBM FlashSystem 7300 supports a range of high-performance NVMe drives for the control enclosure, including exclusive IBM FlashCore Modules (FCM4), industry-standard self-encrypting NVMe flash drives, and Storage Class Memory (SCM) options. All drives are 2.5-inch SFF NVMe format, dual-port, hot-swappable, and can be intermixed within the enclosure (same form factor and connector type). IBM FCMs feature built-in, performance-neutral hardware compression and encryption for enhanced efficiency and data protection. Up to 24 drives are supported in the control enclosure, with all flash modules in the same DRAID6 array required to be of the same type and capacity.

Note: Earlier FCM3 variants (e.g., ADSA–ADSD) may be referenced in some documentation but FCM4 is the current primary series for 7300. Drives are configured at order time; all must match form factor requirements.
Compatibility
