    The IBM Power11 is a scale-out server that benefits from external expansions to increase PCIe Gen4 adapter capacity and NVMe storage. The PCIe Gen4 I/O Expansion Drawer provides up to 12 full-length/full-height PCIe Gen4 slots (using dual fanout modules), while the NED24 NVMe Expansion Drawer adds 24 U.2 NVMe bays for enterprise SSDs. These units connect via dual CXP Converter Cards (#EJ24 or #EJ2A) and cable pairs (optical or copper), offering flexible distances and redundancy. Ideal for hybrid cloud, AI, analytics, and mission-critical applications requiring expanded I/O and storage without system replacement.

    Available Power11 Expansions & Components

    • IBM ENZ0 PCIe Gen4 I/O Expansion Drawer Feature Code: ENZ0 4U rack-mountable PCIe Gen4 I/O drawer (19-inch wide). Supports up to 12 PCIe Gen4 slots (8 x16 & 4 x8) when populated with two #ENZF fanout modules. Replaces PCIe Gen3 drawer (#EMX0) with no upgrade path. Connects via PCIe x16 to CXP Converter Cards (#EJ24 or #EJ2A) and cable pairs (#ECLX 3m optical, #ECLY 10m optical, #ECLS 3m copper).
    • IBM ENZF PCIe4 6-Slot Fanout Module Feature Code: ENZF PCIe Gen4 fanout module for ENZ0 drawer. Provides six PCIe Gen4 slots per module (4 x16 & 2 x8 using x16 connectors; full-length/full-height). Dual modules fully populate ENZ0 for 12 slots total. Connects to Power11 servers via CXP adapters and specified cables.
    • IBM ESR0 NED24 NVMe Expansion Drawer Feature Code: ESR0 2U rack-mount NVMe storage expansion with 24 U.2 NVMe bays (supports 7mm/15mm Gen3 carriers). Dual redundant AC power supplies included. Connects via dual CXP Converter adapters (#EJ24 or #EJ2A) and cable pairs (#ECLX, #ECLY, #ECLS). Supports IBM U.2 NVMe SSDs (e.g., ES5x/ES4x/ECTx series up to 15.3 TB) for AIX/Linux or IBM i workloads.

    Note: Expansions require matching CXP converter cards and cable pairs for attachment. Optical cables offer longer reach and flexibility; copper provides cost-effective performance. These are designed specifically for Power11 servers like the S1124 (9824-42A).

    Compatibility & Support

    These expansions are compatible with IBM Power11-based systems, including but not limited to Power S1124 (9824-42A), other Power11 servers supporting PCIe Gen4 I/O and NVMe expansions, and compatible with AIX, IBM i, and Linux environments. Requires appropriate CXP adapters (#EJ24/#EJ2A) and cable pairs.
