Product Description
The IBM 3580-L43 (also known as TS2340) is an external, standalone Ultrium tape drive from the IBM System Storage family, incorporating fourth-generation Linear Tape-Open (LTO) Ultrium 4 technology. It features an Ultra160 Low Voltage Differential (LVD) SCSI interface for broad attachment to servers and workstations. The drive writes and reads LTO Ultrium 4 cartridges at up to 120 MB/sec native (240 MB/sec compressed with 2:1 ratio), doubling the capacity and significantly improving performance over LTO-3. It writes and reads LTO Ultrium 3 cartridges at original capacities/speeds and reads LTO Ultrium 2 cartridges. Advanced features include hardware data compression, robust error correction, digital speed matching, a large internal buffer, and TapeAlert diagnostics. The compact external enclosure supports tabletop or optional rack-mount use, with front cartridge loading and LED indicators for easy operation in backup, restore, archival, and data interchange scenarios.
