    Drives for FlashSystem 5200

    The IBM FlashSystem 5200 supports a range of high-performance NVMe drives in its compact 1U control enclosure, including exclusive IBM FlashCore Module 4 (FCM4) with hardware-accelerated compression, encryption, MicroLatency technology, and advanced flash management, as well as industry-standard self-encrypting NVMe flash drives and Storage Class Memory (SCM) options for ultra-low latency tiering with Easy Tier. All drives are 2.5-inch SFF NVMe format, dual-port, hot-swappable, and can be intermixed within the enclosure following configuration rules (e.g., same type and capacity per DRAID array for optimal compression and performance). Up to 12 drives are supported in the control enclosure. FCM4 drives provide performance-neutral inline compression and encryption, enabling higher effective capacity and real-time ransomware detection capabilities when paired with IBM Storage Virtualize.

    Drives are configured at order time; all must match form factor requirements and array intermix rules.

    Compatibility

    • Designed exclusively for IBM FlashSystem 5200 control enclosures.
    • Supports intermixing of FCM4, industry-standard NVMe, and SCM drives within the control enclosure (same capacity/type per array recommended).
    • Compatible with IBM Storage Virtualize for virtualization, Easy Tier, compression, deduplication, and advanced data services.
    • Integrates with environments such as VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Red Hat OpenShift, and Kubernetes via the control system.
    • Expansion enclosures support additional SAS-based drives (HDD/SSD) for tiered capacity, but the control enclosure is NVMe-only.
    • All drives are hot-swappable and dual-port for redundancy and high availability.

    This system comes with a 60-day warranty from Data Tech Computer.
