The IBM 2072-2H2 is the large form factor (LFF) control enclosure for the IBM FlashSystem 5010, an entry-level storage array powered by IBM Spectrum Virtualize software. It includes dual active-active node canisters, each with a two-core HyperThreaded processor and base 8 GB memory per canister (upgradable to 16 GB or 32 GB per canister for a maximum of 64 GB total). The enclosure houses up to twelve 3.5-inch SAS drive bays for nearline HDDs and compatible flash drives. Standard connectivity features two 1 Gbps Ethernet ports per canister (one serving as technician port for setup), plus one 12 Gbps SAS port per canister for expansion attachment. Optional adapters enable 16 Gb Fibre Channel, 10 Gb or 25 Gb iSCSI, or additional SAS. The system supports attachment of up to ten 2U expansions or four 5U high-density enclosures, scaling to 392 drives total.
