The IBM 1109 Half-High LTO-2 Tape Drive (feature code 1109) is a field-installable drive specifically engineered for the IBM 7212-103 System Storage Tape and DVD Enclosure Express Model. It uses an Ultra320 LVD SCSI interface and supports LTO Ultrium 2 media at 200 GB native capacity. With 2:1 compression, it achieves up to 400 GB per cartridge. The drive is read/write compatible with LTO-2 cartridges and read/write compatible with LTO-1 cartridges. It fits into either bay of the 7212-103 enclosure (maximum two drives total) and is designed for high-reliability operation with advanced error correction. The 1109 is ideal for external backup solutions on Power Systems servers when internal bays are not available.
