The IBM 1107 SLR60 Tape Drive (feature code 1107) is a field-installable drive specifically engineered for the IBM 7212-103 System Storage Tape and DVD Enclosure Express Model. It uses an LVD SCSI interface and supports SLR60 media at 37.5 GB native capacity. With 2:1 compression, it achieves up to 75 GB per cartridge. The drive is read/write compatible with SLR (5 GB, 30 GB, and 37.5 GB only), MLR3, and MLR1 QIC formats; read-compatible with QIC-4GB (SLR5) and QIC-2GB; and read-only compatible with MLR1, SLR5, and DC9250 formats. It fits into either bay of the 7212-103 enclosure (maximum two drives total) and is designed for high-reliability operation with advanced error correction. The 1107 is ideal for external backup solutions on Power Systems servers when internal bays are not available.
