The IBM 8286-57D8 (also known as feature code 57D8 / part number 00MA020) is a PCIe Gen3 x8 SAS RAID controller with 1.8 GB non-volatile cache (supercapacitor-backed). It occupies a single PCIe Gen3 x8 slot and supports up to 12 internal SAS/SATA drives (depending on backplane and cabling). The adapter delivers enterprise-grade RAID protection (0/1/5/6/10), high throughput, and data integrity for boot, database, ERP, virtualization, and general-purpose storage workloads. It uses dual Mini-SAS HD (SFF-8643) connectors and is backward compatible with SAS 6 Gb/s devices. The integrated cache accelerates write performance and provides power-loss protection to prevent data corruption.
