It occupies an open OLP slot in either: #2673/#9673: Optical Bus Adapter, #2695: Optical Bus Adapter, Optical Bus Adapter in the #5077: Migration Tower II OLP position on the: #9329/#9330: PCI Integrated Expansion Unit, #9331: Base Expansion Unit for SPD Cards, a supported system units base Optical Bus Adapter. #2688 can be used to attach: Up to two of the following in any combination: #5065: Storage/PCI Expansion Tower, #5072: 1063Mbps System Unit Expansion Tower, #5073: 1063Mbps System Unit Expansion Tower, #5082: 1063Mbps Storage Expansion Tower, #5083: 1063Mbps Storage Expansion Tower, or one: #5066: 1.8m I/O Tower.

Note: Three optical cables are required to attach two towers to a #2688. Each #2688 shipped should include two optical cables for attaching the first tower. The second tower shipped for a #2688 should include only one optical cable. The second tower will be attached in a ring with the first tower and the #2688.
