The IBM 2629 (feature code 2629, part number 91H0465) is a LAN/WAN/Workstation IOP. It occupies one I/O card slot and provides three IOA positions. Supported IOAs include #2699 Two-Line WAN IOA, #6149 / #9249 16/4 Mbps Token-Ring IOA, #6180 / #9280 Twinaxial Workstation IOA, and #6181 / #9381 Ethernet IEEE 802.3 IOA.
One #2629 supports one of these combinations:
- Three communications or twinaxial IOAs
- Two LAN IOAs and one other IOA
- One LAN IOA and two other IOAs
LAN IOAs #6149, #6181, #9249, and #9381 cannot occupy all three positions on the same #2629. #2629 is a prerequisite for #2699. Minimum OS/400 level is V4R1.

- Limits: Maximum seven #2629 adapters in one #5070 or #5072 tower. Not allowed in slot 14 of #5070 or #5072. No slot-14 restriction in #5071 or #5073
- Not supported: #2605 ISDN Basic Rate Interface Adapter. Use #2623 Six-Line Communications Controller for that attach
- Limitations: Does not fit PCI or PCIe slots on POWER6 and later systems. Confirm tower type, slot rules, and OS/400 level before install
