The IBM 3580-L33 is an external, standalone LTO-3 Ultrium tape drive from the IBM TotalStorage family, featuring a full-height form factor with Ultra160 Low Voltage Differential (LVD) SCSI interface. It writes and reads LTO Ultrium 3 cartridges at up to 80 MB/sec native (160 MB/sec compressed), doubling the performance and capacity of LTO-2. The drive reads and writes LTO Ultrium 2 cartridges and reads LTO Ultrium 1 cartridges for backward compatibility. It includes advanced features like data compression, error correction, and TapeAlert for monitoring drive health. The compact external enclosure fits easily on desktops or racks, with front-access cartridge loading and status indicators for straightforward operation in backup, archival, or data interchange scenarios.
